2025 - Achievements

Year in Review
It was a good year. I visited several new and noteworthy places, whilst I explored
others previously visited, but this time with greater depth.

Ride Reports:
Not only is the elephant still in the room, he has started dancing! I was a year behind in writing my Ride Reports in 2024, but because of my poor efforts during 2025; I am now two years behind. For 2026, I need to focus on my writing. I have an enourmous task ahead of me.

There are 13 remaining from 2024 and 10 from 2025 (also one dangling form 2023!), which totals 24 ride reports needing to be written! Whilst I don't realistically think I can catch up completely, I need to make a strong effort, because (dare I say it...) I am thinking 2026 will be the last year for this blog.

The Weather: 2025
The table below to compiles the monthly and yearly weather conditions as I recorded them in my 2025 Weekly Calendars. I then compared those numbers with last years to create the charts below.
As you can see, we had an incredible 191 days of sun in 2025 versus 128 in 2024. That's a whopping 67% increase! Additionally, we only had 131 days with precipitation — compared to 2024 when we had 152 days with precipitation. Whilst the number of cloudy days also fell drastically, by nearly 50%. Overall, it was an exceptionally nice year for the weather in this part of Wales.

Goals & Achievements
Each year I set myself a modest set of goals. I don't worry too much about my progress or "success"; this merely gives me a few numbers against which to measure my cycling.

Goal Completed Difference Percent
4,800 mi. 4,015.9 mi. -784.1 mi. 83.7%
96 days 71 days -25 days 73.9%
4,015.9 miles for my total distance and 71 days for the total number of rides ranks as the third highest in my overall yearly performance since 2018. It's a good effort, but I'd like to do more. For additional details on my yearly numbers, click below:

Looking Ahead...
I had a couple projects last year that I'll be working on during 2026. Perhaps the most ambitious is a multi-day tour of the Gwent Levels. There are six unique places that I want to pull together for a series and bike route. Next, I've several routes from the National Cycle Network that I documented last year which I now I wish to publish.

In Closing...
It was a good year for my cycling, but I want to concentrate more on my writing for 2026. If you'd like to read more on the grand ideas I've planned for 2026, be sure to check out my: 2026 - Goals.
